Tokoname-yaki cups are handmade in Tokoname, Aichi, Japan by a local artisan. Using traditional red clay, the ceramic cups are coated after drying using a very special technique, in which black clay in a very liquid form is sprayed over the cups giving its distinctive black finish. Only very small amounts can be produced each time. Tea tastes better using Tokoname-yaki cups and teapots as the surface of Tokoname-yaki clay absorbs much more catechins, reducing bitter taste and freeing more umami into the tea. These cups are a limited edition collab between Future Present and Asemi Co., and are available in two sizes: Small and Large.
