Iga-yaki cups are handmade by the Mashino-kiln in Iga, Mie Prefecture, Japan. The artisan collects clay himself from the surrounding mountains and mixes it with Gaerome clay, which contains tiny pebbles that give Iga-yaki cups their distinctive rough look (Gaerome means “frog eyes” in Japanese, named after their appearance). Iga-yaki pottery is very high quality and known for their sturdiness and high heat resistance. The Iga-yaki cups have a unique character and this unglazed version comes in a deep dark tone with varying bronze shimmers, a true Wabi-Sabi beauty. Available in Small and Large.
