The Fakar Basket Bag by Kamaro’an is a versatile tote inspired by the traditional four-handled “Fakar” farming basket of the Pangcah tribe. Originally designed to be carried by multiple people to share the burden of labor, this modern reinterpretation pays homage to its communal roots while offering versatile, contemporary styling. Use it as a tote, handbag, or shoulder bag. Crafted from resilient straw braid, it features a durable leather handle and includes a linen drawstring pouch.

Kamaro'an is a Taiwanese label that draws inspiration from  indigenous culture, creating beautiful handmade accessories crafted from natural raw materials. The Woven Lid bag is a nod to the vintage indigenous lid basket used for carrying tools. It has a structured shape and adjustable straps, all made from Italian vegetable tanned leather. This material has a smooth finish and will naturally evolve with time, developing an unique patina colour and gradually changing from light to dark, and from flat to shiny.

Hand weaving techniques are applied by master artisans in Kamaro’an’s studio in Taiwan to create an exceptional seasonless line up of accessories. The label draws on inspiration from Taiwanese indigenous culture and this sculptural triangle bag boasts an intricately woven handle inspired by a traditional bag for carrying rice found along the eastern coast.

In the label’s own words, Kamaro’an celebrates the uniqueness, timelessness and precision that craftsmanship by hand can bring to life. This bag is inspired by the traditional pangcah fish trap and created through a method of hand weaving that was developed in house by traditional artisans. It is uniquely dimensional and can be converted from a bucket bag to be worn as a clutch.

The detail on this Kamaro’an iPhone pouch is created using a hand weaving technique traditionally applied in indigenous Taiwanese culture as a method of strengthening baskets. It is crafted by indigenous artisans in the label’s studio in Taiwan. Available in natural or black, this pouch has an elegant shoulder strap and slip pocket to house cards.
